Organization and Administration... Located at 35 State St in the village of Brockport NY, the Brockport Community Nursery School is administered by a board of directors comprised of parents and teachers. BCNS seeks to remain affordable and meet the individual needs of students by encouraging parents to become involved in the school's program, and to participate as members of the governing board. Parent volunteers in class are welcomed as is parent input about programming, celebrations, field trips, etc.

BCNS was founded upon the idea that learning through play is fundamental to children's development. At BCNS children enjoy a variety of experiences that promote cognitive, social/emotional, and physical growth. BCNS provides kindergarten readiness activities such as painting, cutting, pasting, coloring, art projects, counting, number recognition, letter and name recognition, science projects, and field trips. Our indoor and outdoor playgrounds provide opportunities for gross motor development, teamwork, and social development through games. At BCNS, children learn that they are capable and that learning is fun.

BCNS is currently accepting new applicants for the 2011-2012 School Year!
BCNS provides a child-centered multi-age program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 12:00 for children aged 3 to 5. Tuition is $765 per year or $85 per month. BCNS follows the Brockport Central School District Calendar for days off of school.
An optional Wednesday program addition for students in their second year of preschool is available. Tuition for the Wednesday addition will be based upon enrollment and availability of parent volunteers to serve as assistant teacher. Tuition for the 3 day (Tu/W/Th) program is $107 per month with parents rotating through a volunteer schedule.

Debbie Preston, Lead Teacher
Debbie joined BCNS in 2009. Debbie brings to BCNS a genuine love of children and enthusiasm for helping children learn and grow. Debbie has 30 years of experience as a NYS certified elementary teacher in Brockport Central School District. She teaches preschool vacation Bible school in Brockport and, for 10 years, chaired the popular Fun Fair for children at Brockport Central. Debbie's own children attended BCNS and she continues the many beloved traditions BCNS students began as many as 40 years ago!
Priscilla McAllister, Assistant Teacher
Priscilla also joined BCNS in 2009 after almost 30 years at Brockport Central School District district office secretary and secretary to the superintendent of schools. Priscilla's caring demeanor and obvious enjoyment of preschool children shows in her work with BCNS students. With a wonderful combination of grace and humor, Priscilla allows students freedom to explore while guiding, supporting, and ensuring their physical, cognitive, and social/emotional growth and safety. Priscilla's experience includes in-home child care, volunteer caregiver in her church nursery, and experience working in a community nursery school as volunteer assistant teacher for her grandchildren.
